Treasury and treachery


Well, I finally added the end cinematic to the whole Monteverdi quest. Boy howdy, that took quite a while. Luckily, it was rather easy to code. The game was being a bit finicky about the text speed, so... as a workaround, I just decided to make the treasure chest sentient. I'd like to think that this is a well-accepted practice in the video game business.

Actually, what took most of my time today was the debugging of the showdown with the Mayor. I don't even know what was going on there. The code on that whole ordeal is a house of cards, just waiting to ruin everything... and boy howdy, it sure did. I think it's functional, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had to go back there and tighten a few proverbial screws.

I need to draw a few Zodiac stones (something I really should've just done when I first conceived them) and add one more quest. After that, I'll be pretty much done with the main questline! I'm not really sure if anyone will actually play this thing (just like I'm not sure anyone actually reads these logs)... but it'll feel great just to finish something.
